Amaregna ("the app") is a children's Amharic language-learning app. We built it for families, and we keep data collection to the absolute minimum. This policy explains what little we collect and why.
Child profiles consist only of a first name (or nickname) and a cartoon avatar, stored on your device. Learning progress (stars, streaks, completed lessons) is stored on your device. We do not collect children's personal information, photos, location, contacts, or anything else. There are no third-party ads and no third-party analytics in the app.
If a parent creates an optional family account (behind our grown-ups gate), we store the parent's email address and the family's learning progress in our cloud database (Google Firebase) solely to sync progress across the family's devices. This is the only personal data we hold, it is never sold or shared, and a parent can delete the account and all synced data at any time by contacting us at tayezewdu@gmail.com.
Subscriptions are processed by Apple's App Store or Google Play — we never see your payment details. All purchase flows sit behind a parental gate. Physical merchandise (the "Suq") is a showcase only — any purchase happens on an external supplier's own website under that supplier's payment terms, never inside the app. Some external links are affiliate links (for example to Amazon or Etsy): if you buy through them, Amaregna may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.
We designed Amaregna to comply with COPPA (US) and GDPR-K (EU). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Account creation, purchases, and external links require passing a parental gate intended for adults.
